The Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test is an in-situ field test that utilises an 8kg weight being dropped a distance of 575 mm, driving a metal cone ended rod through the shallow sub-strata. Ground penetration is measured in millimetres after each blow and is in turn formulated to calculate California Bearing Ratio, in-situ density, resilient modulus, and bearing capacity.
